Sign Up with a Trusted Company
Step one of horseback riding in Colorado is choosing a top-notch local business for your adventure. Therefore, we recommend Sombrero Stables. This company is Northern Colorado’s largest horse outfitter and has been in business since 1958. Today, they offer visitors the opportunity to experience riding – as early settlers did – in the natural beauty of the Colorado Rockies. You won’t find any souvenir shops or commercialism at Sombrero Stables locations; they have been very careful to preserve the land and share its dramatic beauty with guests. An artist’s brush couldn’t have painted a more spectacular landscape! Come ride the Rockies with Sombrero Stables and see for yourself.
Choose a Spectacular Location
Sombrero Stables own and run their business from six different locations. One of the best options, and our personal favorite, is Snow Mountain Ranch. Located just 20 minutes outside of Winter Park, it is a convenient attraction for our guests. The 5,200-acre area is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and has 60 miles of trails for riding. Let their wranglers guide you across trails that take you by beaver ponds, mountain streams, and lush forests of pine trees and mountain flowers. They are open year-round and have lots of choices for fun activities in all seasons. Plus, Snow Mountain Ranch is Sombrero’s only location with wagon, sleigh, and carriage rides daily!
Insider tip: While long pants and boots are the normal attire, shorts and tennis shoes will work on shorter rides. A light jacket or sweatshirt is a good idea to bring along in the afternoon. You can always tie extra clothing onto the saddle and keep it just in case!
