Rocky Mountain National Park Summer Group Outings

Plan your next group outing at one of the most-visited national parks in America  Rocky Mountain National Park. Get outdoors, enjoy nature and participate in some healthy team building less than an hour away from Winter Park, Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) offers a plethora of group activities from rock climbing to volunteering to camping.

Hiking

RMNP has more than 355 miles of trails ranging in difficulties. Hiking offers a great way to exercise and view different parts of the park. There are trails suited for viewing wildlife, wildflowers, lakes or panoramic mountain views. Some easy hiking trails for all skill levels in your group include the Adams Falls Trail on the west side of RMNP. This 0.6-mile round-trip trail has minimal elevation gain and features beautiful rushing falls at the end. Another popular option is closer to Estes Park. Hike the scenic Emerald Lake trail to view three alpine lakes across a distance of three miles. Or take a relatively flat stroll around Bear Lake, located at the Emerald Lake trailhead, for views just as stunning. For the more adventurous and experienced hikers, groups can consider climbing Longs Peak, the highest peak in RMNP soaring above 14,000 feet in elevation. Hikers should take caution and prepare ahead for this more strenuous hike. The route features vertical rock faces, narrow ledges and steep cliffs.

Volunteering

RMNP group volunteering can offer a team building experience and an opportunity to help preserve the park's natural beauty. There are a variety of summer projects that groups of up to 40 can volunteer for. Vegetation projects include supporting resource management and research personnel in exotic plant removal, restoration and seed collection. The minimum age for these projects is 12 years old. Other RMNP volunteer projects range from trail repair to forest fire prevention to building benches for the park! Make sure to check the group and age requirements along with volunteer information here.

Group Camping

Disconnect from the world and enjoy some group bonding while camping in RMNP. The park has numerous campsites depending on your group size and what amenities are preferred. All campsites can accommodate up to eight people, with two tents or a vehicle and one tent. For groups larger than eight, the Glacier Basin Campground has 13 groups sites, with tent camping only, that can accommodate up to 40 people. There are also campsites for RVs as well. Make a reservation or go to a first come, first served campsite, to conveniently access all of RMNP's group activities. If camping doesn't interest your group, but still want to experience the splendor of the national park, let StayWinterPark find your group's perfect vacation rental. Choose from fully equipped condos or private townhomes with all the amenities you might need. Stay comfortable during your summer outing to Rocky Mountain National Park.
