Experience the Hot Springs Near Winter Park, CO

History

Did you know that Hot Sulphur Springs Resort is over 140 years old? Before it was a spa, the Ute Indians would bathe themselves in the pools and use nearby bluffs to shelter their winter camps. In 1840, William Byers discovered the springs and acquired the land, eventually naming the surrounding town Hot Sulphur Springs.

Today, visitors are welcome to enjoy the sacred waters where the Ute Indians once bathed. Spend some time in the solarium pool, check out the therapy Elk Pool, or bring the kids to the summer swimming pool. You can also take advantage of services like massages, body treatments, facials, and waxing. The options are endless!

What Is a Hot Spring?

A hot spring, also known as a hydrothermal spring, is a place where warm groundwater issues from the earth on a regular basis. In Hot Sulphur Springs, there are seven natural springs that have been flowing constantly for hundreds of years. Over 200,000 gallons of water flow through the pools every day, loaded with minerals like sodium, sulfate, chloride, silica, potassium, calcium, fluoride, and magnesium. All are great for the inside and outside of the body.
